How to Bookmark a Report View in Power BI
Using Bookmarks to Save Report Views in Power BI
Overview: What Are Bookmarks?
Bookmarks in Power BI let you save your current view of a report — including filters, slicer selections, and the page you’re on — so you can easily return to it later.
This feature is especially helpful if you frequently revisit reports with specific filter combinations, such as data for your department, a particular project, or a specific time period.
With bookmarks, you no longer need to manually reapply filters each time you open a report. Instead, you can simply select your saved view and Power BI will restore it exactly as you left it.
Note: Bookmarks are personal. The views you save are visible only to you and won’t affect how others see the report.
How to Create a Bookmark in Power BI
Follow these steps to create a bookmark in the Power BI app (Service):
1. Open the Report

2. Open the Bookmarks Pane and Create Your Bookmark
In the upper-right corner of the Power BI window, select the Bookmark icon.
Select Add a personal bookmark.
Give it a clear name (i.e. - "FY25 - My Department" or "Pending Awards View")
Check the box "Make default view" before saving if you want this to be your default view when you visit the report.

3. Use or Manage Your Bookmarks
To return to a saved view, just select the bookmark name.
To update a bookmark after changing filters, open the bookmark’s options (⋯) and select Update.
To delete a bookmark, select Delete from the same menu.

Tips for Using Bookmarks Effectively
You can create multiple bookmarks for different scenarios (e.g., “This Month,” “My Department,” “All Projects”).
Keep names short but descriptive. They’ll appear in a list, so clarity helps.
Bookmarks are saved per user and per report. If you access the same report later or from another device, your bookmarks will still be available.
Next Steps
If your organization uses shared workspaces or apps, remember that bookmarks only apply to your session. Other users will need to create their own.
