Creating A Globus Guest Collection
Step1.
Go to: https://app.globus.org
If you already have a folder created for your guest collection then skip to Step 7.
Step 2.
If it doesn't take you to File Manager by default, select it in the left menu. Then click where it says Search next to the Collection label.

Step 3.
In the search bar for Collections, type in gstor (and since we are the coolest kids on the block, we are the only option). Click that option. If you want to create the guest collection under an RStor restricted collection then type in the appropriate name.

Step 4.
If you have proper permissions to use this Collection then you will get a directory listing (if this is your first time then it might take you through some prompts to give the Globus website access to send requests on your behalf -- remember that the Globus website doesn't house this information but sends requests to the Globus endpoint hosted at CSU).

Step 5.
Navigate into your "home" directory (or wherever under that directory you want to create your new folder) and click the New Folder icon on the right side of the screen/pane (depending on whether you are in single pane or split pane view).

Step 6.
Put in the name of your new folder.

Step 7.
Choose Collections from the left menu.

Step 8.
If your desired collection isn't already in the list then do a search for it. If it still doesn't show then make sure none of the filters at the top are selected. Choose the appropriate collection.

Step 9.
This screen should appear and you will choose the Collections tab at the top (NOT the left menu).

Step 10.
Click the Add Guest Collection button at the top right.

Step 11.
Click the Browse button to the right of the Directory textbox.

Step 12.
Navigate to where you want the root of your guest collection (it may or may not already contain data). Fill in the rest of the basic information. Try to make things as unique and helpful as possible and enter relevant keywords. There are many thousands of collections on Globus, so finding them can be difficult without unique search terms.

Step 13.
It is recommended to click "view more fields" and fill in as much as possible to help people know they have found the correct Collection. You typically will leave the Default Directory at the default setting of /. If your collection contains sensitive data then you might want to force encryption of the data in transit. After you are finished, click the Create Collection button.
Step 14.
If there were no errors, then your guest collection should have been successfully created. You can now assign read or read/write permission to anyone who has a Globus account (whether at CSU or not). Be VERY careful to whom you give write permissions, because YOU are responsible for anything they add/update/delete in your collection.

Step 15.
You can share directly with a specific Globus user or you can use the Groups option from the left menu to create a group of users with whom to share. This is mostly useful if you have multiple things to share with the same group of people. Be VERY careful with sharing with "all users" and "public." It WILL let you give write access to these groups (I tested it) and we might ban you if you do that...

Step 16.
Your guest collection should now be searchable from the Collections screen. If you can't easily find it then you might consider adding more information in the attributes of your guest collection. You can get back to where you can edit your guest collection attributes by repeating Steps 7-9.
