Secure Enclave M: and S: Drive Guidance
In the Secure
Enclave there are 2 major drive folders to pay attention to:
The
M: Drive and the S: Drive.
The M: Drive is intended as a temporary "jump point" for data entering or leaving the Enclave. It is the drive that data is uploaded to or downloaded from and is not a permanent storage location for data.
The S: Drive is
where project data is intended to be kept and is the working drive for project
related data.
When Uploading data into the Secure Enclave, the data will be uploaded into the M: Drive. Once it is fully uploaded in the M: drive, it is to immediately be moved to its proper place on the S: drive. Once it is confirmed the data has been moved to the S: drive, it must be deleted from the M: Drive. If you do not delete it from the M: drive it will impact the cost to your project.
When transferring
data out of the Secure Enclave, such as back to a sponsor, the data to be
transferred needs to be copied from the S: drive to the M: drive to be
available for downloading. Once the data has been downloaded/transferred it is
to be deleted from the M: drive.
CUI data on the Secure Enclave should not be uploaded to any public portal such as the ESRI GIS portal that may be accessible through the software. This is only one example as there could be other available sources. If you have questions about this, please contact Research IT Data Security at ResearchCUI@colostate.edu or vpr_sgr@colostate.edu.
