Redirect rules solve the issue where non work related emails should be sent to a personal email account. If the
emails meet a specific criteria (e.g., from a specific person or with a specific subject) they will be redirected to the alternate email. For students, that might be your @rams.colostate.edu account.
Note that redirecting emails is different from simply forwarding emails because it retains the sender as if the
email was sent directly to the alternate email initially. Additionally, these steps can be used to setup a forwarding rule as well if you want to keep a copy of the email in both mailboxes.
Creating the Redirect Rule
1. In Outlook, under
Home, select Rules,

2. Select
Manage Rules & Alerts…

3. Select
New Rule…

4. Select
Apply rule on messages | receive and then Next >

5. Check the
from people or public group and then select people or public group in the step 2 section.

6. The address book will appear. Add to the
From -> line the people or email addresses that you want to be redirected to an alternate email. Note that you can have multiple here..
7. Select
redirect it to people or public group and then select people or public group in the step 2 section.

8. The address book will appear. Add to the To -> line the people or email addresses
that you want the emails to be redirected to. Note that you can have multiple here. In the example above, all emails from
testing will be redirected to Test2. They will not show up in your mailbox, only Test 2's. If you want a copy of the emails in both mailboxes, select
forward it to people or public group instead of redirect.
9. Select
Ok and keep hitting next/finish until the box goes away; i.e. for the rest, leave the defaults.
Be sure to watch out for the redirected emails so that you know it's working correctly.
**Be sure to double check for typos.**
Modify Redirect Rule
